New Registrar and Registrations:

Valeria Hersman is our new registrar for Mifflin County.  If you have any questions or need more forms please contact her by email hersman@live.com or by phone 717-437-0312.  Get your registrations to Valeria as soon as you get them completed.

Registration Forms:

When you are filling out your registrations, please make sure that you are fill out ALL the information.  If the parents do not fill out the racial and ethnic background, please do so.  ONLY fill out if the parents did not.  If you fill out the racial and ethnic background also fill out the VS Categories #1 and #2 in the box on the Right hand side of the registration.  You will also need to fill in the following information:

• Council Code – 258
• Troop Number - 40### (Must be 5 digit number)
• Report Code (Service unit) – 435
• Registration Area – 044

All scouts MUST be registered by the second meeting to be covered by GSHPA insurance.  If you have a parent/guardian that can not afford the $12.oo registration fee please fill out a National Membership Dues Assistance Request.  Link to form - http://www.gshpa.org/images/fa_natl_memb_dues.pdf

Membership Dues Summary Form:

The same information above will be needed to complete the top of the Membership Dues Summary form.  Must send ONE troop check with each Membership Dues Summary form.  If you send in Registrations at different times you MUST fill out a Membership Dues Summary form each time.  If you have multiple troops you must fill out a Membership Dues Summary form for each troop.

Background Checks:

If you had your background check done 2008 or earlier you will need to do another one this year.  If  you are not sure contact Tonya Newberry and she will check and get back to you.

RECRUITMENT:

We will be having recruitment in the following areas September 30, 2010 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm for new and returning scouts.  If you know of anyone that is interested or is looking for more information please send them to one of these booths:

• October 18, 2010 – Nut-E 2.0 closes to Troops at midnight!

• December 11, 2010 – Money due to Council (Do not send in Troop Proceeds!)December 13, 2010 – Troop Sales Packets due to SUFPM (Troops, please note dates are subject to change – please contact your SUFPM to confirm dates.)

Next Service Unit Meeting:

Our Next Service Unit Meeting will be held October 21, 2010 starting at 7:30 pm.  If you are unable to attend, PLEASE send a representative from your troop (another parent/leader)

If you are NOT planning on returning as a troop leader, please drop off any troop belongings at this meeting or contact Danielle Webb dwebb2@verizon.net or 717-250-1663.  This includes the checkbook, any materials, books, pins, patches etc, that were paid for by the troop, so that we can pass them on to the next leader.

Animals, food, arts and crafts and plenty of things to discover and explore will be offered. Learn how to cast a fishing line, , build a blue bird box, and learn about local wildlife.

Donations will be accepted to support the Penn State Student Chapter of the Wildlife Society.

The West Region Training is October 1 – 3 at Camp Golden Pond. Come for the weekend or for the day. Meals will be provided. Persons not able to make the Golden Pond date may register for any of the other training sessions offered.

Cost:  Girls – $10, Adults – $5

Registration deadline – September 10th

This is a troop activity and normal Safety-Wise adult/child ratios apply. 

And as always, we need some adult volunteers in order for Camporee to happen. We will need a first aider as well as adults to help with activities on Saturday from 12 to 4.
